SCS Application

I would love to contribute to the Singapore Computer Society by :
- developing new software to solve problems
- leading teams of students to improve the info-comm space
- teaching and inspiring others to learn about technology (ie coding, editing, etc)

Could you guide me on which to start with?

Contribution to Society:
Organised Coding Bootcamp
This year, as part of my IB diploma service components, I organised a coding bootcamp in my school. With 5 other colleagues who I knew had some programming experience, we worked together to create a series of classes to teach students the basics of coding and computer science. Our objective was to reach out to people our age to join our bootcamp to begin their programming journey in the hopes of sparking interest in technology. We planned and carried out several lessons both in-person and online using our previous knowledge about the different coding concepts. During the classes we included engaging activities such as games, quizzes and hands-on projects to get a better feel of the content taught. At the end of the bootcamp, we received very positive feedback from many of the students that attended (more than 50) and we were grateful to inspire their passion for IT.

Released Bible app to the Google Play Store
For my final project in the Harvard’s Computer Science course (CS50), I used the skills learned to create a mobile Bible app. As a Christian, I wanted to develop it to encourage myself and others to read the Bible more and I believed that I would be using the technological talents I have been blessed with for a good cause. After submitting the app to the course, I went further to release it onto the google play store to which it got accepted and is now available to download!
